We Miss 100 of the Shots Funny

Action, my friend.

Taking action will get you whatever it is that you want.

Unfortunately, taking action is also the hardest part.

Anyone can read a book, watch an educational video, or attend a seminar.

It's easy, you pay to be taught – sometimes it's even free.

You don't have to do ANYTHING but  sit there and listen or read.

Sure, sitting down and reading or watching an educational video instead of a TV show requires a little discipline, but it still isn't taking action.

What does reading a book, watching a video, or attending a seminar do?

It provides you a temporary escape.

A temporary high of "Yeah, I'm taking action to better myself".

However, once the book is complete…

Once the YouTube video displays the replay button…

Once everyone gives a standing ovation at the end of the seminar…

You come face to face with the moment of truth.

It's time to apply what you've learned.

And here you are again, knowing that YOU need to do something.

It's a moment of desperation where you know you should be taking action.

However, youfind excuses to "do it later", instead.

"I should apply all the changes and techniques I learned in the website seminar to my website but it's going to take hours and I have to do this and that".

"I should go to the supermarket and buy all the healthy foods I learned about in the book I read but I don't feel like leaving the house today."

What happens next?

"I'll do it later" becomes never.

And as time passes by, you simply forget half of what you learned and tell yourself:

"It's time to read another book, the first one didn't really help me".

Does this make sense to you?

You seek another temporary high and escape from reality.

The reality is that no book, video, or seminar is going to help you.

Sure, you're going to learn vital things…

But YOU are the only one who's going to help you.

And how are you going to do that?

Taking action!

You miss 100 % of the shots you never take.

That's a very famous quote from hockey player Wayne Gretzky.

It's one of my personal favorite quotes because I find it very motivating.

Let's use me andInertia Will Hurt Ya as an example.

Before starting this blog, I read a ton of books and watched many videos on blogging.

So many in fact that it got to the point where I felt I was reading/watching the same information over and over.

I learned a bunch of great tips and techniques.

Things like mistakes to avoid, how often to post, building your audience, and so on.

Can you guess what my very first mistake was?

For about a month and half, I didn't take ANY action.

Even though I learned all these amazing things, I just kept reading and watching videos.

I probably knew more than the average blogger from all the information and knowledge I acquired.

I felt confident and ready to begin but still took no action.

It wasn't until I got tough on myself and said:

"OK, I can continue learning all these great things but if I keep doing this, in a month, I'm going to have the exact same thing I have now – a lot of knowledge but no blog."

So I pushed myself and began .

I purchased Inertia Will Hurt Ya from Godaddy.com and hosted it with Hostgator .

Note: You can purchase and host your website/blog with Hostgator.com only.

Interestingly enough, just getting started was all the motivation I needed.

I took one step after the other.

I purchased the domain name, installed all the plugins and began writing my first article.

It wasn't long before my first article was published.

"Wow, what the hell have I been waiting for?" I asked myself.

Ever since that day, my blog has grown daily like a building under construction.

People are responding very well to my content and Inertia Will Hurt Ya has taken on a life of its own.

Where would I be today if I was STILL reading books/articles and watching videos?

I would probably be a "genius blogger" with no blog.

Isn't that funny?

I would be a "handicap blogger" seeing that I have the skills but can't take any action.

It's like having a million dollars in cash under your bed and just leaving it there.

If you invest it properly, you could live in a first class lifestyle for the rest of your life in many places all over the world.

…and that's just off the interest meaning you'll never have to do anything again.

But if you just leave it under the mattress, what good does it do?

So I ask you – where are you playing the handicap victim?

Where are you not taking action that you should be?

What's the game you're playing and the lies you're telling yourself?

I promise that taking action is MUCH more rewarding than that temporary high.

In the moment, it doesn't feel as good but at the end, it's WAY better.

Think of it as settling for popcorn at the movies.

You get to concession stand and have the option of purchasing popcorn that's been sitting or waiting for the fresh popcorn that'll be ready in 10 minutes.

In the moment, the already made popcorn seems like the better option.

You don't have to wait.

However, if you wait for the fresh popcorn, it will be MUCH better.

When you DON'T settle for the easier option, you always get a better result.

The temporary high of putting things off to later, or reading more books to "learn more", or attending another seminar becomes an addiction that never delivers a rewarding outcome.

Sure, you still have to learn and study your field as you apply what you learn.

But if you never take action, you're just wasting valuable time and setting yourself up for disappointment.

Disappointment that you still haven't actually began what you've always wanted to do.

Look at this way, whether you start today, tomorrow, or in two years; you STILL have to begin.

However…

The more time you waste, the more time you DON'T GET BACK.

Write that down on a post-it note and place it somewhere you'll see it daily.

Look, I know it's easier to put off things for later, I've been there.

I know it's easier to just read another book or watch another video, I've been there.

But I also know the feeling of "Damn, why didn't I start sooner?" – Because I live it EVERY DAY!

Every single day I wish I would have begun WAY before I did.

I often wonder:

How many other readers could I have if I would have started sooner?

How many other readers got the answer they were looking for from another source because my blog wasn't born yet?

Take action right now!

Forget all the lies you're telling yourself.

Forget all the instant gratification you're settling for.

Forget fooling yourself and wasting valuable time and just do what you need to do!

Get it over with!

Again, I promise it'll be much MORE rewarding than the temporary high and escape you're settling for now.

Take a shot at your goals before time runs out and you lose the game.

You miss 100 % of the shots you never take

We'll talk again soon,

-Alex
